Pet Food Drive

Unfortunately there are many people presently experiencing great financial hardship - including in the Helena area. Many have difficulties finding the resources for the basics of life such as food and medicine, and fortunately there are wonderful organizations whose primary mission is to assist these individuals. The Pad for Paws Foundation is further assisting by specifically providing for the needs of the pets of these individuals and families.

Paws Pantry started feeding hungry pets in July 2008

This program - through generous volunteers, donors and businesses - collects donations of cat and dog food, repackages the pet food, and then makes deliveries to Helena Food Share, God’s Love, and numerous needy families and individuals. The benefactors of this program are not only our furry friends, but also the individual pet-owners who benefit from the reliable supply of food for their beloved pet.

During November and December 2009, we will be holding our annual Paws Pantry Pet Food Drive. While specific businesses have agreed to participate on a variety of dates, major public drives will be:

November 28, 2009
Murdoch’s Ranch & Home Supply
3050 N. Montana Avenue
Helena, MT

December 19, 2009
Safeway Food Store
611 N. Montana Ave.
Helena, MT

Also, a pet food drop off bin will be located inside the lobby of the Quik Check office located at Malfunction Junction (at the intersection of Montana and Lyndale avenues).

How can I help?

Donations of cash - only to be used for the purchase of cat or dog food - will allow the foundation to purchase pet food on an as-needed basis and in the best economical quantities possible. Additionally, we gratefully accept donations of bags or cans of dog and cat food.

How much of a difference will my donation make?

For every $20 donation, the foundation is able to purchase enough food to feed one cat for one month or one dog for two weeks. Presently the PAWS PANTRY program is providing over 500 pounds of pet food each week to Helena Food Share alone. All donations greatly assist our ability to improve the lives of area cats and dogs whose owners are presently experiencing financial hardships.
